Thanks for allowing me to share a few thoughts on Senator George Edwards\’ announcement earlier today that he would not be seeking another term in the Maryland Senate.
I’d like to thank Senator George Edwards for his nearly four decades of service to Western Maryland. District 1 could not have asked for a more steadfast and passionate representative in Annapolis. George never lost sight of the true meaning of public service and put politics aside to better the lives of his constituents and their communities. George has always been a mentor to me in my twenty years of elected office – first as President of the Allegany County Board of Commissioners and later when I was elected to serve alongside him in the House of Delegates and on the Western Maryland Delegation in Annapolis. I have learned so much through his example and will take those lessons with me as I continue to represent the people of Western Maryland.
