Today I spoke on the floor to explain why I was voting to sustain Governor Hogan\’s veto of HB 732 – Taxation – Tobacco Tax, Sales and Use Tax, and Digital Advertising Gross Revenues Tax. I explained how it would unfairly impact struggling citizens and redlined areas throughout our state. Legislation such as this has been billed as a way for those richer to pay their fair share but it instead hurts those who are not. Communities are financially effected and cannot prosper.
