Thank you for applying for the Maryland Senatorial Scholarship for the 2025-2026 academic year. To be considered for a McKay Senatorial scholarship, you must reside in District 1. The scholarship application consists of three parts:

- Recommendation(s) (from a non-relative)
- Essay describing your goals and how this scholarship will assist you in achieving them.
Scholarship applications must be postmarked by Friday, April 1, 2025, and mailed to: Senator Mike McKay, 100N. Mechanic Street, Cumberland, Maryland 21502. Please mark the envelope “Attn. Scholarship Fund”. If you are emailing, please send to: Mike.McKay@senate.state.md.us.
A FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) financial package must be completed before you apply. By using the federal site, there is no charge to complete the FAFSA form.
If you are awarded a Senatorial Scholarship, it will be automatically renewed for up to three additional years. The maximum award timeframe is four years (8 semesters) for full-time students or up to 16 semesters for a part-time student. Scholarships are intended for use at a Maryland college or trade school. If you are going to study a major that is not offered at a Maryland school, you will need to apply for a Unique Major and complete the application through the Maryland Higher Education Commission.
