The Office of the Secretary of the Senate is now scheduling clergy and religious leaders from each legislative district to deliver daily invocations during the 2026 Maryland General Assembly Session.

The Senate Chaplain Program strives to reflect the diversity of Maryland’s faith communities and welcomes participation from leaders representing many different faith traditions.

How to Nominate Clergy from Your District

If you would like to recommend clergy or religious leaders from your district to give the invocation:

1. Compile a list of individuals, including their name, phone number, and religious institution or title.
2. Send your list to the attention of Nick Garrett at Nick.Garrett@MGA.Maryland.gov or by phone at 410–841–3908.

Once submitted, the Office of the Secretary will coordinate a date for your guest’s visit and provide them with all necessary information, including prayer guidelines, directions to the State House, and parking instructions. Reminders will also be sent as the scheduled date approaches.
