CUMBERLAND — Senator Mike McKay is bringing your tax dollars home to Western Maryland, with two District 1 wins moving through the Board of Public Works.

In Garrett County, $100,000 is headed to Oakland Youth Baseball to restore the Oakland youth baseball and softball fields — the same fields where District 1 families spend their spring and summer evenings. No local match required. That is money you already sent to Annapolis coming back to work for our kids.

In Allegany County, $325,500 in Program Open Space funding secures 171.58 acres on the southern end of Piney Mountain, adding a new Natural Environment Area to the Rocky Gap State Park Complex. The land protects nearly two miles of Braddock Run — one of Western Maryland’s self-sustaining brook trout streams — and expands public access for the hunters, anglers, and hikers who make this country home.

Western Maryland does not ask Annapolis for favors. Senator McKay makes sure the tax dollars we send down there come back to build ballfields and protect the land our families love.
