Today in the Appropriations Committee, we held a hearing on House Bill 748 as it increased the accrual rate of service for police officers who served on and after July 1, 2022. It also increased the pension for each officer from 65% to 70% of their final compensation. I along with many of my colleagues, joined Delegate Reilly, who was the primary sponsor, in supporting this legislation. This bill is also backed by the Fraternal Order of Police as well as State Law Enforcement Officers Labor Alliance. I am strong supporter of the men and women in blue who selflessly and I will vote in favor of this bill.
