Over the past few weeks, we have begun to have committee hearings on various bills including some of the legislation I have sponsored. This past week I have had two bills have hearings HB 508 and HB 549. For quick reference, HB 508 is about altering a word in a notice relating to the intention of a taxing authority when setting a county or municipal corporation real property tax rate. House Bill 549 increases the maximum compensation, from $10,000 to $45,000, that may be awarded by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board for psychiatric, psychological, or mental health counseling. It also prohibits the Board from setting maximum compensation thresholds lower than the thresholds established in a certain provision of law. You can view each hearing at the links below.
