Garrett County has been awarded $46,800 through Program Open Space (POS) Local assistance for community space upgrades at the Garrett College – McHenry Campus. The total project cost is $52,000.

The project will renovate the entrances and outdoor areas of the arts and athletics facilities, including the addition of accessible pathways, seating, landscaping, and other associated site amenities. These improvements are designed to enhance accessibility and create a more welcoming environment for the community.

The Department of Natural Resources has confirmed that this project aligns with Program Open Space objectives. Funding was approved and appropriated by the General Assembly, with final approval pending from the Board of Public Works. Once approved, work may begin at the earliest opportunity.

This investment reflects ongoing efforts to improve the quality of parks and recreation spaces for the citizens of Maryland.
