Funding for District 1

We have new news on funding for our District! Below is what our District will be receiving!

District 1A

  • A request from the Department of Natural Resources to commit a total of $19,800 from the Program Open Space funding allocated to Garrett County for the following projects:
  • Friendsville Community Park: $10,800 to replace the fencing near the horseshoe pits (Item 5A.1 of the Department of Natural Resources’ Real Property Agenda);
  • Loch Lynn Community Park: $9,000 to purchase and install additional security equipment and repair the gravel trail.  In addition, upgrade old park signage at the Athletic Complex (Item 5A.2 of the Department of Natural Resources’ Real Property Agenda);
  • A request from the Department of Natural Resources to commit a total of $384,500 from Local Parks and Playgrounds Infrastructure funding allocated to Garrett County for the following projects:
  • Rotary Park: $287,000 to expand the Mountain Fresh Pavilion, resurface the parking lot and purchase grills.  In addition, install new playground safety surfacing (Item 5A.3 of the Department of Natural Resources’ Real Property Agenda);
  • Glades Park: $97,500 to replace the pavilion roof, resurface the walking paths, install a pond aeration system, and install new playground safety surfacing (Item 5A.4 of the Department of Natural Resources’ Real Property Agenda);

District 1C

  • A request to enter into grant agreements for grants totaling $150,000 to the Board of Directors of the Hagerstown Aviation Museum, Inc. for the acquisition, planning, design, construction, repair, renovation, reconstruction, site improvement, and capital equipping of the Dome Hanger at the Museum.  There is no matching fund requirement for this grant (Item 9 of the Department of General Services’ Office of State Procurement Agenda); and
  • A request to enter into grant agreements for grants totaling $200,000 to the Board of Directors of the Garrett Memorial Veterans of Foreign Mars, Post 10,077, Inc. and the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Friendsville for the acquisition, planning, design, construction, repair, renovation, reconstruction, site improvement, and capital equipping of the Friendsville Veterans Memorial.  There is no matching fund requirement for this grant (Item 29 of the Department of General Services’ Office of State Procurement Agenda).
