State investments in parks, conservation, and infrastructure across Allegany, Garrett, and Washington Counties are before the Board of Public Works on July 22.

Several investments in Allegany, Garrett, and Washington Counties are before the Maryland Board of Public Works today, July 22. Here’s what’s on the agenda for District 1:

Garrett County

  • $200,000 to turn the Bruce Park concession stand into a pavilion and add pickleball courts, a walking track, parking, and softball-field improvements.
  • $163,000 for drainage repair, new infield mix, and reseeding at three youth ballfields at Broadford Park.
  • A perpetual conservation easement protecting 167.8 acres in Swanton.
  • $50,000 for the Town of Accident to support the historic Drane House.

Allegany County

  • $505,938 to protect 239 acres and more than a mile of forested stream buffers in the Mountain Ridge Rural Legacy Area.
  • $100,000 for the City of Cumberland to improve the intersection of Mechanic & Harrison Streets.
