On March 24, the House debated an amendment to HB 1098. The amendment would not allow state employees, who own electric cars (specifically the staff of delegates) to be able to charge their vehicles for free at the various charging spots at the state parking lots. Delegate McKay spoke on the floor in support of the amendment stating how this can divide a community as one employee would have a privilege over another. The amendment failed although some Democrats crossed party lines to vote with Republicans in support of the amendment.
