Competition in the Maryland economy is crucial for businesses to succeed and for our state to fully recover from the Covid-19 pandemic and the recession it caused. While a great goal, our taxes on businesses do not create a healthy environment to lure businesses or encourage entrepreneurs. Maryland ranks 46th among all 50 states in tax systems and the surrounding states (minus Washington, D.C.) all rank much higher.
