Board of Public Works –District 1 Items on 03-13-2024 Agenda

District 1A: A request from the Department of Natural Resources to commit $9,000 from the Program Open Space funding allocated to Garrett County for additional funding to resurface the existing parking lot and construct an accessible fishing pier with wheelchair bays, ramps and low-level rails at the Piney Reservoir Fishing Pier (Item 6A of the Department of Natural Resources’ Real Property Agenda);

District 1B

  • A request from the Secretary of Natural Resources to approve naming the Perimeter Trail at Dan’s Mountain State Park the Lonacona Loop Trail, to honor an American Indian, Lonacona, who lived and adventured alongside Daniel Cresap on the mountain known as Dan’s Mountain (Item 8 of the Secretary’s Agenda);
  • A request from the Department of Natural Resources to commit $184,718.70 from the Program Open Space funding allocated to Allegany County to construct football goal posts, a storage building, bleachers and parking at the Willowbrook Outdoor Wellness Center (Item 1A.1 of the Department of Natural Resources’ Real Property Agenda);
  • A request from the Department of Natural Resources to commit $753,086.00 from the Local Parks and Playgrounds Infrastructure (LPPI) funding to construct an ADA kinetic park, outdoor classroom, walking trails and stormwater management at the Willowbrook Outdoor Wellness Center. LPPI funds are leveraged through the Department’s partnership with the National Park Service through the Land and Water Conservation Fund (Item 1A.2 of the Department of Natural Resources’ Real Property Agenda);
  • A request to enter into a grant agreement for a $200,000 grant to the Board of Directors of the Allegany Museum, Inc. for the acquisition, planning, design, construction, repair, renovation, reconstruction, site improvement, and capital equipping of the Allegany Museum. There is no matching fund requirement for this grant. The General Assembly previously approved this funding as part of the 2023 Capital Budget (Item 8 of the Department of General Services’ Office of State Procurement Agenda); and

District 1C: A request from the Department of Natural Resources to commit $90,000 from the Program Open Space funding allocated to Washington County for new playground equipment and safety surfacing at Williamsport Elementary School for use by the school and the general public (Item 7A of the Department of Natural Resources’ Real Property Agenda).
