Board of Public Works Agenda 1/31

On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, the Board of Public Works will be considering several items that impact your Districts 1A and 1B.  Specifically:

District 1A:

  • A request to enter into a grant agreement for a $50,000 grant to the Board of Directors of Bloomington Fire Company for the acquisition, planning, design, construction, repair, renovation, reconstruction, site improvement, and capital equipping of the Bloomington Fire Company facility, including its gear and equipment storage expansion.   There is no matching fund requirement for this grant.  The General Assembly previously approved this funding as part of the 2023 Capital Budget (Item 1 of the Department of General Services’ Office of State Procurement Agenda);
  • A request to enter into a grant agreement for a $50,000 grant to the Mayor and Town Council of The Town of Accident for the acquisition, planning, design, construction, repair, renovation, reconstruction, site improvement, and capital equipping of the Drane House.  There is no matching fund requirement for this grant.  The General Assembly previously approved this funding as part of the 2023 Capital Budget (Item 7 of the Department of General Services’ Office of State Procurement Agenda);
  • A request to enter into a grant agreement for a $50,000 grant to the Board of Directors of Potomac Fire Company No. 2, Inc. for the acquisition, planning, design, construction, repair, renovation, reconstruction, site improvement, and capital equipping of the Potomac Fire Company No. 2 facilities.  There is no matching fund requirement for this grant.  The General Assembly previously approved this funding as part of the 2023 Capital Budget (Item 21 of the Department of General Services’ Office of State Procurement Agenda); 

District 1B:

  • A request from the Department of Natural Resources to commit $17,880 from the Program Open Space funding allocated to Allegany County to, among other things construct a storage building, renovate the existing restrooms, purchase new park signage and add new amphitheater lighting at Hoffman Park (Item 1A of the Department of Natural Resources’ Real Property Agenda); and
  • A request to enter into a grant agreement for a $250,000 grant to the Board of Trustees of the Frostburn Fire Department No.1, Inc. for the acquisition, planning, design, construction, repair, renovation, reconstruction, site improvement, and capital equipping of the Frostburg Fire Department, No. 1 facility, including the acquisition of an aerial ladder truck. There is no matching fund requirement for this grant. The General Assembly previously approved this funding as part of the 2023 Capital Budget (Item 11 of the Department of General Services’ Office of State Procurement Agenda).
